6 of the coolest catamarans available for charter

1 August 2024 • Written by Georgia Boscawen

Widely recognised as exciting  yachts for charter, catamarans come with a stream of benefits including speed, stability and huge volumes. BOAT takes a look at some of the coolest catamarans available for charter this season…

Wayfinder

Stats:  68.2m, Astilleros Armon, 2021, 12 guests, 20 crew

Highlights: With a primary use as a catamaran support, Wayfinder carries an armada of water toys. The 68.2-metre yacht also boasts a hugely impressive deck for events, entertaining and, famously, pickleball. Located on the aft deck, the full-sized court is the perfect place for challenging guests to a friendly tournament while taking a break from the water toys. The yacht is available as a standalone or support vessel for an epic tandem charter.

Inside, Wayfinder follows a Scandinavian-esque theme, with bright open spaces and light oak touches. She was originally launched as a support vessel to a large mothership, yet still has refined interiors with practical appeal. On board, there is accommodation for 12 guests across 11 well-appointed cabins. There is also a whopping crew of 20 to provide tip-top service and a full complement of pickleball challengers.

Wayfinder is available to charter with Edmiston with a weekly rate from €375,000.

This is it

Stats: 43.5m, Technomar – The Italian Sea Group, 2024, 12 guests, 12 crew

Highlights: Characterised by radical, asymmetric lines and 600 square metres of glass panelling, This Is It has taken the market by storm since her delivery earlier this year. Her otherworldly design is inspired by fantastical sea creatures and disguises a futuristic yet welcoming interior with a unique asymmetric layout.

Accommodation on board is for 12 guests across six cabins, each with a characteristic futuristic flair. Shades of champagne and platinum-grey can be found around the yacht as well as cool features like the backlit bar with a statement, ribbon-like light fixture and a textured main saloon filled with suede, lacquer and metallic furnishings.

This is it is available to charter with IYC with a weekly rate from €450,000

Seawolf X

Stats: 42.8m, Rossinavi, 2024, 12 guests, five cabins

Highlights: Built this year (2024) by Italian shipyard Rossinavi, Seawolf X is an exciting step into the future, being not only remarkably efficient but also the shipyard's first multihull project. Now available for charter this season, the new superyacht has a long list of futuristic credentials, from electric cruising capabilities to an on-board artificial intelligence system. On one-day trips, Seawolf X can cruise in full-electric mode for 100 per cent of the time; on multi-day trips, she can cruise for 90 per cent; and on transatlantic trips, she can still cruise in electric mode for 80 per cent of the time.

The design was inspired heavily by the automotive world and opted for a dual inverted bow configuration. Solar panels have also been integrated into the design, which contributes to elevating energy consumption on board. With accommodation for 12 guests across five cabins, the yacht’s interiors have been created by New York-based design firm Meyer Davis, and follow the yacht’s sustainable theme. Taking inspiration from the sun, sea and sand, Seawolf X’s interiors are relaxed with light woods, natural light and wide-open spaces, including a 100 square-metre lounge and dining area.

Seawolf X is available to charter with Cecil Wright and Partners with a weekly rate from €380,000.

Hemisphere

Stats: 44.2m, Pendennis, 2011 (2023), 12 guests, 10 crew

Highlights: Hot on the heels of a 2023 refit, Hemisphere is the world's largest sailing catamaran for charter.  But this isn't the only reason why the 44-metre had earned a rightful place on the cool list. Since her delivery, Hemisphere has travelled to 57 countries and completed two global circumnavigation.

In line with her exploration tendencies, the 44-metre has a PADI-certified and Nitrox-capable Scuba centre on board with kits for up to 12 guests. Another cool thing about Hemisphere is that she allows guests to combine the classic experience of cruising under sail with adventurous opportunities for underwater exploration. Her deck spaces offer al fresco dining, a flybridge jacuzzi and a sunbathing trampoline forward, plus a fully stocked toybox.

Hemisphere is available for charter with Burgess with a weekly rate from $260,000.

The Beast

Stats: 39.2m, Profab Engineering, 2019, 12 guests, 9 crew

Highlights: Delivered in 2019, this 39.2-metre catamaran is appropriately named – you can't miss her as she pulls into port either thanks to her distinctive chevron paint job and she houses a great deal of fun. The Beast boasts over 370 square metres of living spaces including a private office, chef’s table-style open galley and a dedicated media room for movie nights.

Some of her key components include a custom 13-metre sportfish vessel, which sits on the aft deck, along with a complement of fishing gear. There is also a nine-metre amphibious tender for easy beach landings, plus a fully-equipped dive shop and fleet of kayaks and SUPs. The Beast’s interior is a relaxed haven with muted tones and design elements with a dark colour scheme.  Throughout, the grey fabric and oak-style veneer panelling on the walls and floor is offset by colourful pieces of artwork.

The Beast is available for charter with 37 South Yachts with a weekly rate from $215,000

Allures

Stats: 30.5m, Compositeworks, 2006, 8 guests, 5 crew

Highlights: Built in 2006 by Compositeworks and Technicomposit in France, this 30.5-metre yacht is an all-carbon racer that is good-looking and remarkably quick. Her sailing configuration allows her to cruise at 15 knots under sail while maintaining the utmost comfort. Allures has reached speeds in excess of 25 knots under sail. The 36-metre carbon wing mast rotates to allow the highest performance from the Cuben fibre sails and her draught can be reduced from 4.1 metres to 2.2 metres.

Care has been taken to ensure she remains in perfect condition, having been refitted in 2016 and recently in 2021. While she may be sporty, Allures is a straightforward yacht to sail and relax on board too with plenty of social spaces for up to eight guests. Inside, rich mahogany and fig woods make up the living spaces, which are complemented by elegant leather fittings,

Allures is available for charter with Northrop and Johnson with a weekly rate from €55,000.
