The 34.4-metre motor yacht Gitana has has been sold, with Dirk Johnson of Edmiston representing the seller and Helen Wozunk of Peck Yachts introducing the buyer.
Built in aluminium by US yard Burger to a design by in-house naval architect Don O’Keefe, Gitana was delivered in 2003 as the yard’s first expedition yacht and the first full displacement hull in the company's modern-day history. Her smart blue hull was freshly repainted during her 2023/2024 refit.
An interior by Linda Street Design and Burger accommodates 10 guests in five cabins, comprising an owner's suite on the main deck with a king-size bed and marble-clad his-and-hers bathrooms. There are two VIP suites and two twins on the lower deck plus quarters for a crew of six.
A large main saloon houses lounge seating, a television screen, a formal dining table and an exquisite crystal display cabinet on the port side, which stores the china and crystal. To starboard, a full-service bar is integrated. Forward of the dining area, the staircase and foyer feature sliding doors that close off the saloon for quiet dining.
Exterior spaces include the main aft deck, with a fixed al fresco dining setup and wet bar with bar stools. The sundeck features sunpads and seating, the helm station and there is space for a Jacuzzi to be reinstalled on the foredeck - the plumbing is already in place. The Portuguese bridge is another popular and private outdoor space, including dual settees for open-air relaxation and a good vantage point to gaze out over the horizon. Meanwhile, twin stairs lead from the aft deck to her swim platform aft.
The 271GT motor yacht's top speed is 14 knots, with her power from twin 800hp Caterpillar 3406-E diesel engines. She has a range of 1,920 nautical miles at 12 knots.
For added safety and comfort Gitana is fitted with Quantum zero-speed stabilisers. The broker pointed out that her round bilge is suited for long passages as she offers low fuel consumption, making her "a highly appealing expedition yacht".
Gitana was last known asking $9,250,000.
