First look: Inside the latest Horizon Yachts FD90

9 August 2023 • Written by Dea Jusufi

Horizon Yachts has offered a first look inside the 26th hull in its popular FD90 fast displacement series.

Designed by Dutch studio Cor D. Rover, the 27.5-metre model was custom-built to meet inventory demands in Australia. It is bookended by the FD75 and FD125 .

Accommodation is across five cabins, with the master cabin featuring a king-size bed, a custom-reeded marble headboard, ample storage space and a his-and-hers ensuite. Four guest cabins are located on the lower deck, including a multi-functional queen cabin in the bow whose bed separates and rotates outward to form two twins. There is further accommodation for four crew.

Interior design is inspired by Italy, with bleached walnut woods and natural Michelangelo stonework incorporated throughout. In the main saloon, black lacquer detailing, matte-black metal wall trimming and the series’ signature full-height windows lend the space an airy, contemporary feel.

Forward on the main deck, an electric Hi/Lo glass partition integrates the galley and the dining area, facilitating ease of service. It also features a counter bar, wine chiller and full-height refrigerator.

The aft deck houses a multi-functional lounge and dining area with a customised sofa set, sliding table and wet bar. The stairs to port lead up to the entertainment area of the split-use sky lounge on the deck above, which is fitted with a U-shaped sofa and a full bar with ambient lighting. Further aft is a Jacuzzi with ample space for sun loungers or tender and water toy storage.

“The FD90 has been one of the most popular FD models in Australia because of her high volume and efficient cruising capabilities,” said Horizon Yacht Australia director Mark Western. “We are looking forward to showcasing this latest design and her modern interior.”

Powered by twin MAN 1,300hp engines, the series can reach a maximum speed of 19.4 knots and a cruising speed of 10 knots. The FD90 can also be equipped with an upgraded 17,791-litre fuel capacity for extended cruising.

This news marks a busy time for the Taiwanese shipyard, with seven units launched this year. This includes Sweet Caroline, the first FD80 with a hardtop helipad to be delivered to Australia.
