Taiwanese shipyard Horizon Yachts has announced the launch of a new FD80 motor yacht, christened Sweet Caroline in honour of the owner’s partner.
The 25-metre model is the tenth in the series, but it is the first in Australia to feature a galley-aft layout, a convertible VIP cabin, and a helipad on the hardtop.
With a beam of seven metres, Sweet Caroline can sleep up to eight guests across four cabins. The exterior design is by Dutch studio Cor. D Rover, while the interiors, designed by Australian brand ABI Interiors, incorporate Michelangelo quartzite, grey lacquer slats, and Cadorin-European oak flooring.
The yacht has a split-use aft galley arrangement which integrates indoor and outdoor entertainment, increasing the living area. This configuration is made complete and “convivial”, according to Horizon, with a large dining table for eight, a pull-out Teppanyaki grill station, and sliding glass doors that connect the open galley area with the main saloon.
Exterior highlights include dedicated stowage space for a 14.5-metre tender and a beach club with a hi/lo swim platform, inviting interaction with the sea on the lower deck. A retractable radar arch allows space for a helipad on the hardtop.
“We consider the FD80 the introductory model to the FD Series, and as such we have put a lot of focus on this model becoming just as popular as the FD90 in Australia”, said Horizon Yacht Australia director Mark Western. “A lot of our buyers are looking for aft galleys, so Horizon designed this layout, which is perfect for entertaining. Horizon is dedicated to fine-tuning its product to suit the Australian market, which has been a key to the success of the brand here.”
Sweet Caroline's top speed is 19.6 knots and her cruising speed is 12 knots. She will make her debut at the 2023 Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show in May.
