Each week we select one of the world’s finest superyachts available for charter .This week, BOAT takes a closer look at the brand-new 48-metre yacht Serenissima I, which made her debut at the 2024 Monaco Yacht Show...
When a brand-new vessel arrives on the scene, the market is often quick to swoop in and charter the yacht. Having been delivered in August this year, Serenissima I built by Mengi Yay, is one of the latest additions and will no doubt be received with enthusiasm. It helps, of course, when the yacht is particularly exciting-looking, with exteriors by Italian firm Nuvolari Lenard.
It’s clear from the exterior that this charter yacht's deck space is expansive. This was a key wish expressed by the experienced commissioning owner and Mengi Yay certainly delivered, with guests being able to bask in the sun on the aft deck, sun deck and lounge area forward. According to the shipyard, the sundeck is "one of the largest in this category of yachts" and within the deck itself, features a sunbathing area aft, a mini pool with a view towards the bow and a completely sheltered lounge area.
Key Features

Builder: Mengi Yay
Year: 2024
Guests: 10
Crew: 9
Cruising: Mediterranean
As her name suggests, Serenissima I is the first hull of Mengi Yay's new series, and in many ways, she is a revolutionary yacht for the shipyard. When it comes to exteriors, she's a commanding spectacle, with large windows, a well-balanced profile and a cool white and dark grey colour scheme and striking blue stripe that peeks from below the waterline.
Stepping on board and things are just as impressive, Serenissima I's main saloon features a dark wooden floor, wooden walls and cream furniture which come together to create an elegant, yet welcoming space. The combination of natural and indirect lighting illuminates the space, but this can easily be changed to create a more atmospheric space on board. The main saloon is also used as the interior dining area and has an oval marble table crowned by a glass shell-like chandelier.
While there is a large television in the main saloon, the best place to snuggle up and watch a movie is in the additional lounge on the main deck forward, which is also known as the “gentleman’s lounge” with a walk-in wine cellar and balcony. There is also an electric piano and mirrored ceilings which makes the space feel even more elegant.
An elevator connects all interior decks for effortless movement throughout the yacht, but the sundeck is almost entirely flush and accessible via a staircase.
“She’s a stunning brand new 47-metre,” says the Ocean Independence central agent, Laura Polotto. “The yacht has a timeless, elegant and sophisticated interior and a hugely impressive owner’s suite on the upper deck with a private Jacuzzi and outdoor space.”
Life on board Serenissima I
Serenissima I can comfortably accommodate up to 10 guests across five elegantly designed cabins, each with a light interior and marble bathrooms. The owner's suite lies on its own upper deck and has a private jacuzzi and outdoor terrace. The four remaining cabins can be found on the lower deck and include two twins forward and two doubles aft, which could be opened to create a full-beam VIP suite.
Guests will most likely spend the majority of their charter up on the sun deck, which has a dining area which can seat a full complement of guests, a large Jacuzzi and free-standing furniture which can be sheltered with canopies. An additional spa pool can be found on the owner's deck aft, which has additional seating and a small table for more intimate dinners.
For those that wish to keep up with their fitness routines, Serenissma I also has gym equipment for the huge foredeck. One of the standout details is the boxing ring, which can also be installed on the foredeck with punch bags, gloves and even a trainer should you wish.
