Ferretti Yachts

The first member of the Ferretti Group of international luxury yacht brands, Ferretti Yachts builds semi-custom composite yachts ranging from 16 to 29 metres in Forli, Italy.

History of Ferretti Yachts

In 1968, Norberto and Alessandro Ferretti, brothers born in Bologna, Italy, added a boat dealership to their family’s successful luxury auto business, which sold brands such as Maserati and Lamborghini. At first, the Ferretti brothers represented other boat builders, but in 1971, they introduced the first yacht of their own design, a 10-metre wooden motorsailer, at the Genoa Boat Show.

By 1975, the brothers decided to focus on their boat-building business. In response to market demand they ultimately switched from sailing yachts to power vessels, launching the first Ferretti luxury motor yacht series in 1982.

In the decades that followed, the company expanded into the Ferretti Group with the acquisition of other yacht brands, including Pershing, Itama, Bertram, Riva, Mochi Craft and CRN. In 2012, Chinese investor Weichai Holding Group acquired a controlling interest in the Ferretti Group.

For its part, the Ferretti Yachts shipyard has continued to take full advantage of its relationship with Italian yacht design firm Studio Zuccon International Project to develop a full range of sleek, contemporary flying bridge motor yachts built with composite construction, and to market them around the world.

Notable Ferretti Yachts

Launched in 2013, the Ferretti Yachts 960 model is the largest planing luxury yacht built to date by any of the Ferretti Group shipyards. Measuring just over 29 metres in length, she provides a top speed of 31 knots when powered by twin MTU 16V 2000 M94 diesel engines. She features a superyacht-style layout with the master suite on the main deck, and four VIP guest suites located on the lower deck.
