Dutch studio Mulder Design has released a new, 28-metre concept known as the Onyx 92. The designer, most recently known for its work on the rebuild of the 30.5-metre Ursus, has described the new model as a "bold new vision of what a 28-metre yacht can be".
Optimisation of space is at the forefront of the design, best seen in the foredeck – complete with a large sunbed and four dedicated "lounge corners" – and the beach club, which comes with a water's-edge bar (a "rare feature at 28 metres", according to the studio). Key specs include a 7.1-metre beam and a draught of 1.6 metres.
The al fresco offerings are weighted towards the bow, though the model does feature a casual coffee lounge on the upper deck and a sheltered, main deck seating area aft. Customisation options include the sundeck, which can have an enclosed or open skylounge connected to the dining area, and the main deck which can have the master suite or a formal dining area forward.
Accommodation is also flexible, with Mulder Design providing a four-cabin and six-cabin configuration for guests, with further quarters for a maximum of four crew members. An interior designer is also yet to be selected, which offers a degree of personalisation for any interested clients.
Powered by twin MTU 2000 M96 engines, Onyx 92 can reach a top speed of 26 knots, a cruising speed of 18 knots and a range of 1,800 nautical miles at 10 knots. A shallow draught also allows the yacht to explore the secluded bays and shallow anchorages typical of Florida and the Bahamas.
Earlier this year, Mulder Design shared another superyacht design with BOAT International. The 50-metre Project Sharp is designed around "the value of spending quality time with family and friends", with highlights including a 6.5-metre-long foredeck pool and head heights of 2.2 metres.
