Dutch yard Damen Yachting has launched the third unit in its YS53 series from its facilities in Antalya, Turkey. The next steps for the 53.3-metre support yacht are final outfitting works, sea trials and delivery, with the latter scheduled for summer 2025.
The model has durability, reliability and sailing characteristics at the forefront of its design, characterised by a wave-slicing axe bow, forward-raking windows for improved visibility and pronounced spray rails to protect sensitive equipment from saltwater. Key specs include a volume that sits just under 500GT and a top speed of 19 knots.
Exterior spaces are versatile and functional, including the large aft platform that can be configured as an events space, a place for "making scientific discoveries" or capacious storage, installed with a 15-tonne crane for launching tenders and toys. A reinforced deck also allows for touch-and-go helicopter operations.
"Today's launch really reflects the fact that the YS53 is coming into its own as a series," said Damen Yachting's Pim Oostra, who worked as project manager for the build. "We are looking forward to the final build stages as we prepare everything ready for completion this summer."
The other two units in the YS53 series are Bad Company Support – owned by legendary sportfisherman Anthony Hsieh – and Five Oceans, which is currently for sale with Verpeka Dolling, asking €29,950,000.
