Christian Grand designs sporty 56m yacht

The Italian designer Christian Grande has penned a muscular 56m motor yacht.

The Acapulco 55 (length overall is 56m) is characterised by sheered surfaces and a sporty, swept back windshield. The concept was inspired by automotive designs and minimises superfluous elements, for example hiding bow anchors behind flush hatches.

Similarly, the large foredeck features sofas and a spa pool but has been left otherwise unencumbered to make it a flexible social space.

Only the rectangular lower deck ports stray from the sleek style, with the intention of flooding cabins on that level with as much light as possible.

The staircase from the main deck to the sun deck is inspired by the large funnels of early 20th century ships. It is composed of a rigid black skeleton is surrounded by leather-like soft white skin. The sun deck features a bar, plus a shower for sunbathers.

Grande envisions an interior decorative scheme that plays with the light – dark shiny surfaces alternating with pale, matte elm flooring and bronze-toned ceilings.
