The fourth hull in Perini Navi's 60-metre sailing series has been launched at The Italian Sea Group's (TISG) shipyard in Marina di Carrara, Italy. Named Katana, she now joins sisterships Perseus 3, Seahawk and Seven on the water. Delivery is scheduled for early 2025.
Originally known as Project C2239, the sailing yacht was started on speculation in 2016 in Viareggio and sold a year into its construction. Work resumed on the yacht in 2022.
The build has been developed in collaboration with Ron Holland, who also oversaw naval architecture. Equipped with carbon fibre masts, booms and rigging, her sailing system has been "redesigned" to increase ease of handling and improve performance. She also features a "latest generation dynamic positioning system", allowing owners to position and direct the yacht without using an anchor.
Accommodation is across five guest cabins and a master suite, with interiors styled by acclaimed French designer Rémi Tessier. While full details are yet to be disclosed, the shipyard has described the setting as "refine[d]", but "without the need for ostentation".
"The launch of this extraordinary 60-metre is a milestone that fills us with pride and attests to the strength and continuous growth of the Group's brands," said Giovanni Costantino, TISG founder and CEO. "Perini Navi will continue to stand out for its distinctive style and ability to innovate without sacrificing tradition."
This follows the shipyard's latest financial report, which recorded revenues of €292 million – increasing by 11.4 per cent compared to the same period in 2023.
