British superyacht builder Princess Yachts has teamed up with London-based luxury retailer Thomas Pink to create a capsule fashion collection celebrating Princess’ 50th anniversary.
As part of the collaboration Spanish illustrator Jaume Vilaradell was commissioned to produce two drawings encapsulating the glamorous aura of yachting vacations in the 1960s. Created in sunshine yellow and cool blue colour schemes, both images depict a couple lounging by a pool while their Project 31 – the first yacht ever produced by Princess – idles in the background.
The artworks feature in full on gentlemen’s pocket squares and ladies’ Italian silk scarves, while Thomas Pink’s classic polo shirt is given a subtle update with the illustrations peering out from beneath the collar. These exclusive, luxury items will each be available as a limited edition of 300.
The traditional Thomas Pink fox logo is also given a witty nautical update and sees the signature character sat on sailing rope and wearing a captain’s crown hat and blazer with epaulettes.
The collection is being released in conjunction with a Project 31 restoration programme. Launched by Princess to honour its first product and the company’s continued success over the next five decades, a team of dedicated craftsman - including some who worked on the original boat - have been lovingly restoring the craft to her former glory.
"Seeking to work closely with a global leading luxury apparel brand that wouldn't compromise on handcrafted quality, we chose to work with Thomas Pink, and the detail seen in the collar design of the polo shirts demonstrates how fruitful the collaboration actually was,” said Princess Yachts marketing director, Kiran Jay Haslam.
"We are really excited to see the new 'Princess 31@50 Collection' come to life and it is the perfect way to celebrate 50 years of the Princess brand. Capturing the essence of Princess from the 1960's to create understated, timeless and chic pieces, the collection showcases our vision to create distinctive products of unique quality and craftsmanship."
The Princess Yachts x Thomas Pink limited edition collection is available from September 2015 and will be showcased at Cannes Yachting Festival to mark the beginning of the 50th anniversary celebrations. Prices start at £75, visit princessyachts.com for more information.
