Charter yacht of the week: The 71m family-style yacht with extra pizzazz

27 September 2024 • Written by Georgia Boscawen

Each week, we place a spotlight on the world’s finest superyachts for charter. This week, BOAT steps on board the 70.6-metre Talisman C, an elegant superyacht by Turkish shipyard Turquoise Yachts

When it comes to family charters, there’s one element that you can never have enough of – space. Space is key when you have the brood in tow, as you need to have more room for entertainment, extra toys and some all-important room for peace and quiet. Talisman C has plenty of rooms that are beautiful to boot, with an ornate Art Deco interior that appeals to the whole family.

Talisman C was delivered in 2011 and is a familiar face on the charter market. Her interiors, by H2 Yacht Design, play a huge role in this with grand crystal chandeliers, cream furniture and black lacquered surfaces. But the theme does not smack you in the face and is, importantly, very liveable, thanks to a human-centred approach encompassing elements such as an informal dining table and karaoke machine. It's like stepping into a scene from The Great Gatsby, only Talisman C is far more welcoming.

She was commissioned by an experienced owner who wanted an upgrade from his beloved yacht after he needed more space for tenders and water toys. The result is just that – a continuous success on the charter market that still feels fresh more than a decade after her delivery.

Key features

LOA: 70.6m
Builder: Turquoise Yachts
Year: 2011
Guests: 12

As you step on board, the balance of black lacquer and cream will immediately notify you of the yacht’s theme. The amount of lounge space is also apparent, with grand sofas and armchairs, cosied around an illuminated coffee table. The main interior dining area is positioned just behind, lying beneath a bespoke crystal light installation.

Deck spaces on board Talisman C are beyond impressive and the sundeck (where guests will likely spend most of their time) has a huge Jacuzzi, a sit-up bar and a shaded al fresco dining area. Here there is also a 50-inch screen, for movie nights under the stars.

Inside there is a daybed for snoozing as well as a comfortable lounge area with a 65-inch television further forward, A games room can be found here too, which doubles as a study when normal life calls. A key feature of the design is the spiral stairs that wind around an intricate glass sculpture, illuminated by a sundeck skylight.

Life on board Talisman C

Accommodation on board is for 12 guests across six beautifully laid-out cabins. However, the star of the show is the owner’s suite, which is forward-facing on the main deck. In keeping with the yacht’s sophisticated interiors, the owner’s cabin takes on boudoir-style décor with voile curtains around the bed. Grand crystal chandeliers hang bedside the bed, with reading lights and the blend of black lacquer enhancing its grandeur. Gold mosaic tiles can be found around a spa bath and shower room too to make it extra special.

For those who want to keep up with their fitness regime, a fully stocked gym and wellness area with a massage table can be found on board. There is even a beauty salon for a bit of preening, which can be accessed via the corridor leading to the VIP and owner’s suites.

In the name of fun, Talisman C is quite special at the waterline, where a full-width aft garage with lift-up clamshell doors on each side resides. Here, guests will find a toy cupboard stocked with all of the latest gear. For those guests who prefer not to hear the constant buzz of small engines, there is a Laser dinghy, plus a selection of windsurfers and canoes. The "respectable" dry tender – for going ashore without getting soaked – is a Novurania Chase 23 with Yanmar inboard diesel.
