Italian design studio Piredda & Partners has unveiled a new, 75-metre superyacht concept named Through the Looking-Glass. Inspired by Lewis Carroll's iconic children's novel Alice in Wonderland, the concept is characterised by "soft surfaces" and "refined reflections" that, according to her designers, come straight from the magical world of Wonderland.
With her exteriors said to create a "visually captivating appearance", Through the Looking-Glass stands proud on the water with her slender profile, sheets of elongated glass and metallic silver superstructure.
On board, the 75-metre vessel presents a new way of living. The upper deck is a notable example of this, spanning 72-metres of the yacht's total length and home to a foredeck helipad, sunpads at the bow and lounge chairs and a large infinity pool flanked by sunpads aft. The pool is also glass-bottomed and overlooks the protected lounge and dining space on the main deck below while decorating it in dancing reflections from the water.
The glass-fronted beach club is equally as expansive, benefitting from side balconies that extend the space outwards for a flush, walk-around experience. Meanwhile, a 13-metre, full-beam wheelhouse is situated on the bridge deck.
Alongside a wonder of architecture, the concept is designed with innovative materials. For example, traditional teak has been replaced to allow for a more modern and stylised design, as well as being future-proof by providing greater durability and exceptional resistance to the elements.
Accommodation on board is for up to 14 guests in seven cabins, comprising an owner's suite on a private deck and two VIP cabins and four guest cabins all located on the main deck. Said to be "dedicated to guest comfort", the main deck also features a spacious informal lounge with wide U-shaped sofa, dining table for 10 and a ceiling resembling a nights sky.
The owner's deck champions the "through the looking glass" theme, adorned with floor-to-ceiling windows and featuring a 360-degree walkway around its perimeter, both allowing for unobstructed panoramic views. Her crew of up to 24 is accommodated across 12 quarters, with their technical spaces designed to be "invisible" for maximum owner privacy.
Further inspiration from Carroll's "fantastical world" is showcased through the concept's interior. A marvel of bold and vibrant colours combined with contrasting textures create an "eccentric yet elegant" atmosphere throughout.
Rough materials are paired with lavish finishes in a style said to embody the "whimsical charm and refined grace" depicted in Wonderland. "Every element [...] invites you to step into a world where luxury meets imagination," shared the design studio. "The ideas and touches of the designer reflect the unique way of thinking rather than a specific vessel, which is intended to be truly bespoke."
Notably, this design comes from the studio of founder and director Nicolò Piredda, who took home the 2018 student prize of the BOAT International Young Designer of the Year Award, impressing judges with his 60-metre explorer yacht concept Galàna designed for Oceanco.
Piredda & Partners is also responsible for the interiors of the in-build 80-metre SilverYachts Silver Edge and the exterior and interior design of the in-build 50-metre Admiral semi-custom model Panorama.
