Palmer Johnson reports new PJ170 and PJ48 superyacht orders

12 June 2014 • Written by Risa Merl

US superyacht builder Palmer Johnson has officially announced new orders for two of its new breed of sport yachts with an order for its third PJ170 and second PJ48M.

The timing is apt as Palmer Johnson is delivering its second PJ170 Sportyacht and the first in its PJ48M SuperSport series this summer. The latter is a much-anticipated entry to the superyacht scene as a brand new series for the venerable sports yacht builder.

The hull and superstructure of the first 48m Palmer Johnson SuperSport yacht was completed last summer in Norway. The PJ48M – actual LOA 49 metres – has futuristic exterior lines and features an innovative wave-piercing hull design. She is constructed in carbon, her modern build material matching her modern styling.

Meanwhile, Palmer Johnson launched hull No 2 of its PJ170 series this May. The 52.4 metre superyacht is built in aluminium.

Both the PJ170 and PJ48M have top speeds of 30-plus knots and measure in at 500GT.
