MTT Voyageur: Messerschmitt Yachts reveals new yacht concept influenced by “aviation design”

17 December 2024 • Written by Milly Robinson

Swiss design studio Messerschmitt Yachts has unveiled MTT Voyageur, a yacht concept created as part of Oceanco's Simply Custom portfolio. Designed to simplify the commissioning process, Simply Custom offers clients a proven platform by Lateral Naval Architects with extensive customisation options for both the exterior and interior.

Taking inspiration from automotive and aviation design, exterior renderings of the concept reveal a four-deck layout with refined lines and large windows integrated into the superstructure. With room for flexibility in her design, deck arrangements can be customised in accordance with the owner’s tastes.

Designer Felix P. Messerchmitt described MTT Voyageur as “more than a yacht” and emphasised its suitability for long-range cruising and exploration.“It reflects my personal passion for travel and exploration,” he said. “It is crafted for an owner who seeks adventure, constant discovery and the joy of exploring the world’s oceans.”.

For the yacht’s interior, Messerchmitt Yachts has partnered with Paris-based Studio Liagre. This collaboration was a “natural fit,” with both studios focused on creating spaces that cater to “all moments,” from parties with friends and formal receptions to daily life and more.

Renderings of the interiors reveal an open-plan main saloon, styled in soft cream tones to enhance the sense of space and light. A generous sofa area is positioned alongside expansive windows, which invite an abundance of natural light into the room. The yacht provides accommodation for up to 14 guests, with quarters for a crew of 24. At this stage in the process, the design remains flexible.

On her technical side, the MTT Voyageur will be able to reach a maximum speed of 16 knots and a cruising speed of 13 knots.

Exterior images reveal additional standout features to include a helipad on the bow, an expansive sun deck with ample lounging areas and a swimming pool integrated into the upper deck.

All Simply Custom designs include advanced technical systems, including optimised stabilisers, pod drives, electric propulsion and onboard battery storage. The platform is also compatible with renewable diesel fuels such as HVO, which, according to Oceanco, can reduce carbon emissions by 80 to 90 per cent compared to conventional marine diesel.

This unveiling follows the introduction of other Simply Custom concepts, such as Daroca Design's project Real which was revealed earlier this month.
