Bodrum-based shipyard SCA Yachting has announced plans to begin construction on a new 40-metre wooden motor sailer named Boa Kingdom. It is scheduled for delivery in early 2025.
Boa Kingdom marks SCA Yachting’s entry into the boat-building business, as the yard was previously known for its yacht charter and refitting services.
The naval architecture has been led by Fuat Turan and the fully custom, 345GT yacht will be built at Çavuşoğlu Shipyard, which specialises in wood epoxy laminate construction.
“We are proud to be partners with Çavuşoğlu Shipyard in this project, benefiting from their 60-year legacy and unparalleled expertise in laminated wood. We prefer wood for the Boa Kingdom because of its remarkable fatigue resistance, ensuring longevity,” said SCA Yachting founder Cenk Avdan. “Also, wood is the most environmentally friendly option and does not harm the health of people on board. At SCA Yachting, we will continue to support wood as our material of choice.”
Accommodation is for up to 12 guests with further complement for seven crew. Designed by SCA Yachting’s in-house team in close collaboration with the owner, a Turkish businessman, it boasts 345-square-metres of outdoor living space. This includes a 16-square-metre swimming platform, an 84-square-metre flybridge and a jacuzzi located on the bow.
Powered by twin 550 horsepower Volvo engines, Boa Kingdom will reach top speeds of 15 knots and a cruising speed of 12 knots.
As a private, custom commission, no further details on Boa Kingdom have been disclosed.
