Baltic Yachts has been commissioned to build an ultra-lightweight 33.8 metre Baltic 111 Custom sailing yacht.
Described by the yard as “one of the most extreme projects Baltic has undertaken”, the yacht will begin construction in April and is due to launch in May 2023.
Designed inside and out by Jarkko Jämsén, the yacht will be used for fast coastal and offshore sailing.
Reducing the weight onboard to maximise performance is central to the design. To save weight, the yacht’s structure will be used as part of the interior while materials such as bamboo and rattan will be used to achieve a “minimalist and modern” interior, the yard said.
Naval architecture comes from Botin Partners while PURE Design and Engineering has provided the structural engineering.
Speaking about the project, chief executive Anders Kurtén, said: “This stunning new yacht will break new ground in leading-edge technology, a challenge I am confident the entire Baltic Family is ready to meet.”
Also underway at Baltic Yachts is the 39.6 metre Baltic 117 sailing yacht and 44.6 metre Baltic 146 yacht.
