Italian shipyard Alpha Custom Yachts has launched the first unit in its 29.9-metre Squalo 100 series. Construction began in 2022 and in May 2023 she was sold to a buyer represented by Denison Yachting. Delivery is scheduled for this summer.
The semi-custom series takes its name from the Italian word for "shark" and has an muscular, "alpha male" exterior by Roberto Curtó, including a vertical bow and high pilothouse. Interiors are also owed to the Italian design studio, while naval architecture is owed to Massimo Verme.
With a wide beam of 7.9 metres and a draft of 1.8 metres, the model is "designed with the modern yacht owner in mind". The model also offers enhanced onboard comfort thanks to floating floors, floating ceilings and a floating walls system that supports the lower and main decks.
The aft deck is the key focal point of the design, with a plunge pool sitting above a toy garage. This is adjoined by an open deck area with seating and shaded dining. There is an alternative lounge area on the deck above, where the pilothouse is connected to a generous open area that provides over 990 square metres of living space.
Accommodation can be provided for between eight to ten guests depending on the configuration chosen by the buyer. A master cabin sits on the main deck forward and there are two cabin configurations on offer on the lower deck.
One option allows for a secondary master cabin that rivals the owner’s cabin and a stateroom, a VIP guest cabin and a guest cabin with two twins to comfortably sleep eight. Another option of two queen guest cabins and two twin staterooms can sleep ten.
Speaking on the design, Alpha Yachts co-founder Roberto Aboumrad said: "I’ve never dedicated so much time, energy and effort, ever, and I’m so proud to be able to keep on pushing the boundaries to give our industry a yacht that will by far exceed the lifestyle of a 30-metre yacht."
He added: "Happiness, comfort and satisfaction for my customers is the best payback that I can have to all my effort and energy devoted to Squalo."
The Squalo 100 model follows in the footsteps of the Alpha Custom Yachts Spritz 102, an award-winning model whose second unit was sold in December 2021.
According to BOATPro, Alpha Custom Yachts has six units currently under construction. The third unit in the Squalo 100 series was recently moved to outfitting, with delivery also scheduled for this year.
