Royal Hakvoort has revealed the first interior images of the 61-metre superyacht Asia. Following her delivery in May 2024, the yacht embarked on a four-month Mediterranean tour, cruising non-stop with her new owners. According to BOATPro, she is now anchored in the Bahamas.
Her interiors – designed by Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design, also responsible for the exterior – have remained a closely guarded secret until now. Typified by a classic bow, Asia's elegant sculptural lines disguise her 1,268 GT of interior volume.
Previously known as Project Asia, the 61-metre was successfully launched from the Dutch shipyard's facilities in Monnickendam at the start of last year, commissioned by an experienced family seeking to travel the world extensively. She was sold by Moran Yacht & Ship in 2019 (with construction beginning soon after), marking the eighth new build Hakvoort project sold and overseen by the broker. She is the third custom 61-metre built by Royal Hakvoort to a design by Sinot, with naval architecture by Diana Yacht Design.
In line with the owners' social yet active lifestyles, Sinot has penned "playfully creative" interiors, with each space carefully considered for entertaining large parties of guests as well as enjoying intimate time with family. According to lead designer Paul Costerus, the studio was briefed to create the spacious interior feeling of an 80-metre yacht packed into a 61-metre. The result is a meticulously optimised design in a 1,268GT interior volume.
“Asia is the boat I have dreamt of since I was a young boy,” said the owner. “Everywhere onboard Asia is incredibly comfortable and enjoyable to spend time in. There isn't any part of the boat where we don’t feel at home; in fact, what Royal Hakvoort built is a home for us. Asia is the complete package - she turned out precisely as we envisioned.”
Accommodation for 12 is across six cabins, including an owner's apartment on a private deck complete with beauty salon, two bathrooms, office, sky lounge and panoramic views from a king-sized bed. There is a large al fresco dining area aft with seating for up to 12 guests, while the foredeck provides an intimate space with a Jacuzzi and small seating area.
The remainder of the guest accommodation comprises a forward VIP suite (comparable in size to the owner's apartment) on the main deck, with private saloon, rainfall shower and bathtub, that lies nearby to the large saloon, formal dining area for 12, bar and additional cosy lounge seating.
Four additional en suite double cabins with king-sized beds sit on the lower deck with direct access to the beach club, alongside crew quarters that comprise eight en suite cabins for 18. The deck is easily accessible via a large atrium with a central stairwell that houses a cascading glass feature, in addition to a separate elevator.
Alongside accommodation, her lower deck is a space dedicated to guests, health and rejuvenation. A large beach club is home to a spa, sauna, massage parlour, lounge and juice station, decorated in neutral tones and natural materials to provide a calming oasis. Notably, the beach club can be opened on three sides (port, starboard and aft), and in the evening can also be transformed into a karaoke party space with underwater lights.
A glass-walled Jacuzzi with swim-up bar, sun pads, retractable biminis and grill station offers the ultimate al fresco space on the sundeck, whilst the bridge deck provides a fully-equipped gym and additional outdoor social area separated by glass sliding doors. The wheelhouse is also situated forward on the bridge deck.
Royal Hakvoort noted that Asia stands out as one of the most efficient Hakvoorts to date, thanks to a hybrid propulsion system with shaft generators and a battery for peak shaving. She has a range of 4,800 nautical miles at a cruising speed of 10 knots, able to reach speeds exceeding 15 knots. She is also fitted with the Dutch yard's innovative heat recovery system - now a standard feature on all future Hakvoort yachts - to further her forward-thinking design.
According to BOATPro, Royal Hakvoort has two other yachts currently under construction, including a 45-metre superyacht designed by Hoek Design Naval Architects.
