“The demand in the full custom 50- to 60-metre market is growing,” says Baglietto’s CCO Fabio Ermetto. The Italian shipyard is at the forefront of this trend, with one of its latest projects, a 55.9-metre full-custom superyacht, currently in build and set for delivery in the first quarter of 2027. Designed inside and out by Enrico Gobbi – Team for Design, with Carlo Lionetti collaborating on the interiors, BOAT explores how the owner’s dream yacht is coming to life in this all-Italian project.

According to Ermetto, the client is an “experienced yacht owner” with a “precise vision” for his vessel. “His brief included specific requests for functional spaces, such as a fully equipped gym and a dedicated sauna area,” he explains. “Enrico Gobbi, with his renowned design expertise, was able to seamlessly incorporate all of the client’s requests, ensuring each space was meticulously crafted to the exact dimensions and functionality the owner envisioned.” With a steel hull and aluminium superstructure, this high level of personalisation extends to every aspect of the yacht, from its minimalist exterior lines to its thoughtfully designed interiors.

At the heart of the project and one of its standout features is an expansive, split-level beach club. The stern platform is vast, with fold-down terraces on either side, a retractable hydraulic platform for easy water access and a large swimming pool surrounded by sunpads. Sliding watertight doors lead directly to the lower deck, where a fully equipped gym and spa await. The area is a true wellness retreat at water level, with its sauna and hammam, and fold-down balconies on both the port and starboard sides to expand the space.

Outdoor living is also a key focus of the design, with an array of inviting deck spaces. More sunpads can be found on the bridge deck aft, while the sundeck is an idyllic spot for unwinding under the sun, complete with Baglietto’s signature whirlpool with integrated sunpads.

Inside, the design team had 850GT to work with, creating spaces that are both luxurious and welcoming. The main saloon is designed for entertaining, featuring plush seating and a formal dining area for up to 12 guests, complete with a buffet station. Large sliding doors open onto the aft cockpit lounge for a seamless indoor-outdoor experience.

For more intimate gatherings, the skylounge offers a cosy retreat for movie nights or quiet relaxation. This space is particularly versatile with its three openable doors - two leading to port and starboard verandas and sliding doors aft opening onto an al fresco dining area, complete with a massive L-shaped sofa for post-dinner lounging.

Accommodation is designed for up to 12 guests across six cabins, with the owner’s palatial suite being the undisputed highlight. Situated on the upper deck forward, it features sliding doors that open onto a private foredeck terrace, outfitted with seating and sunpads for enjoying a quiet morning coffee with the option to include a whirlpool in this space. Inside, the suite includes an office, his-and-hers bathrooms and a walk-in wardrobe.

The main deck houses a VIP stateroom on the starboard side, while the lower deck includes four additional guest cabins: two doubles amidships, a double to port and a twin to starboard. The yacht is also well-equipped for crew operations, with separate accommodations for 13, including a captain’s cabin on the bridge deck.

Designed for long-range cruising, the yacht is equipped for global adventures. Twin CAT 3512E engines provide a maximum speed of 16 knots and a cruising speed of 14.5 knots, with a range of 4,500 nautical miles at an economical speed of 10 knots.

From a technical perspective, one of the owner’s key decisions was opting for a hybrid propulsion system,” Ermetto reveals. “Baglietto has been a leader in hybrid propulsion technology for over a decade, and the shipyard’s competence in this area undoubtedly provided the owner with an added sense of confidence and comfort.” Storage has also been carefully considered for long voyages in remote destinations, with a walk-in cold room in the galley and four additional cold rooms below deck. A true explorer yacht also requires the right equipment, and this build delivers. The forward garage on the main deck accommodates a seven-metre tender, a rescue tender and ample space for water toys.

The yacht is currently in its engineering phase, with all technical and design details being fine-tuned to align with the owner’s vision. “In just a few months, we will move into the next exciting phase, which is the construction of the hull, marking a significant milestone in the build process,” Ermetto says.
