The 44.2 metre motor yacht Valeria has been listed for sale by Valeria Alekhina at Thompson, Westwood & White.
Built in steel and aluminium to Bureau Veritas class with exterior design by De Voogt, Valeria was delivered in 1975 and, like most yachts of this vintage, boasts an interesting history. For example, named Al Farah, she served as the presidential yacht for Libyan dictator Muammar al-Gaddafi for 25 years before being sold to her current owners in 2003. Also noteworthy is the fact that she was the first superyacht to be built with a custom helicopter deck.
Currently, she is at the Balk shipyard where she is being re-designed and rebuilt to ensure optimum guest comfort with fully up to date exterior lines, interior design, electronic systems and machinery. Other refinements include a new swim platform, Jacuzzi spa tub and opportunities for al fresco dining. The intention is that she will be fully ready for a new owner to enjoy cruising in the summer of 2019.
The new interior, designed by Design Unlimited, will host 12 guests in six cabins including a master suite, while a further six cabins will sleep nine crewmembers aboard this yacht for sale. Her top speed is 15 knots and she boasts a maximum cruising range of 5,000 nautical miles at 10 knots with power coming from two 950hp Caterpillar C-32-ACERT diesel engines.
Available to view at the Balk yard in The Netherlands,Valeria is asking €15,000,000.
