Owner wanted: The most expensive superyacht projects for sale

12 February 2025 • Written by Dea Jusufi

Superyachts of a certain calibre (and price tag) typically need a commissioning owner. But this is not always the case. There are many incredible yacht projects currently under construction – boasting helipads, glass-bottomed pools and designs from the industry's most esteemed studios – that can be available to a buyer in as little as one to two years.

BOAT takes a closer look at the most expensive builds on the market...

Silver Edge – $75,000,000

The most expensive superyacht project on the market is the 79.5-metre Silver Edge. An evolution of the iconic 77-metre Silver Fast, delivered in 2015, Silver Edge marks another collaboration between veteran designer Espen Øino and SilverYachts, a shipyard based in Western Australia. Silver Edge borrows design cues from fast patrol vessels, including an elongated bow that doubles as a helipad and an angular enclosed helm station.

The project promises several exciting features for her future owner, from her glass-bottom pool and sundeck Jacuzzi to her three VIP cabins and master suite (the latter measuring an impressive 95 square metres). The build is awaiting an owner to put the "finishing touches" on the interiors.

Under construction at Ares Yachts' facilities in Antalya, Turkey, the 62-metre Simena is incredibly close to completion. The ketch is inspired by a "gentler age of sail" and has been loosely modelled after a clipper ship, with a varnished mahogany exterior and classic lines by Taka Yacht Design. This aesthetic is offset by clean, contemporary interiors courtesy of Design Unlimited – though modern comforts have been covertly included to maintain a nostalgic feel, such as television lifts within the owner's suite and saloon.

Other highlights include the owner's cabin, which features a dressing room, lounge sofa and Jacuzzi accessed on the bow, and a "very user-friendly" remote-control system for propulsion.

Delivery date: 2025

The 44.3-metre Magic has already completed her sea trials in the Netherlands, where she showed off a trim, glassy exterior by US-based Reichel Pugh Yacht Design. Dutch yard Vitters is behind the fast-cruising build, which benefits from "technical innovations" such as submarine anchor systems, a "peak shaving" battery system and twin V-drums in the forepeak.

Expansive deck spaces are found aft and forward, while the transom area can be converted into a large beach club close to the water. A sunbathing pad and two outside seating areas offer plenty of options for al fresco dining.

Delivery date: 2026

A redesign of Perini Navi's 47-metre "fast cruising sloop" series, this project was one of the first new-build offerings by the Italian yard since its acquisition by The Italian Sea Group. The new iteration comes with a carbon fibre mast, a newly engineered keel and "Perini technology" to allow for short-handed operation and a top speed of 13 knots. An enormous, open flybridge characterises this build, arranged with day beds, sunloungers and al fresco dining. though the open foredeck also offers ample sunbathing space.

According to the broker, the main deck aft is still up for customisation with the opportunity to install "built-in seating, an al fresco dining table and more on the main deck aft". Accommodation is for eight guests across four cabins, including an owner's suite with an office and its own private lounge area.

Delivery date: 2026

Project Secret is being built by Italian yard Tankoa Yachts, with Vitruvius Yachts responsible for the naval architecture and Philippe Briand behind the exterior design. A "highly advanced" hybrid parallel propulsion system sets this build apart, with Project Secret expected to be capable of silent cruising and fuel savings "of up to 59 per cent". The superyacht is also characterised by her wellness amenities, including a sea-view gym, infrared sauna and "seaside dipping pool" on the swim platform. A retracting glass panel by the dining area also fosters guests' connection with the ocean.

The superyacht's "soft, calming" interiors are by Italian studio FM Architettura, known for her work on Rossinavi's 59.4-metre Akula and the 88-metre Admiral build, Project Spyder.

Felicitá – €38,000,000

Credit: Moran Yacht & Ship

Delivery date: 2025

Felicitá belongs to Overmarine's steel-hulled 49.9-metre series, the Mangusta 50. The Italian yard was heavily involved in the design of this project, working with Alberto Mancini on exterior design and Pierluigi Ausonio PLANA on the naval architecture, as well as creating fresh, contemporary interiors.

A particular highlight is the beach club, which opens on three sides and contains a blue marble and mosaic-tiled Hammam. Guests can also enjoy an "oversized" gymnasium, an open-air cinema on the upper deck and a glass-fronted, rectangular Jacuzzi on the sundeck. Accommodation is for 12 guests across five cabins, the main deck master cabin having a "sea terrace" that extends out over the water to starboard.
