The 94-year-old, 38.4-metre classic schooner sailing yacht Puritan has been listed for sale with Nicolas Marchand of Bernard Gallay Yacht Brokerage and Simon Pandolfi of Classic Yachts. She was last on the market 10 years ago in 2015.

Puritan was delivered in 1931 by American builder Elco - a yard renowned for building submarines. At 38.4 metres, she is the yard's flagship build, constructed in steel and teak to a design by John G. Alden Design with interiors by John Munford. Notably, the gaff-rigged sailing yacht was one of the earliest participants in the "Classic Yacht Revival".

Puritan is asking €5,900,000

Up to eight guests are accommodated on board across four cabins, comprising three doubles and one twin. Meanwhile, there are further quarters for a crew of seven.

Her classic interiors are adorned in warm teak wood and pale soft furnishings, with striking red carpets that demand attention. The large main saloon is complete with a comfortable lounge area and a large dining table with leather U-shaped seating.

Moving outside, the central cockpit of Puritan features twin sofas surrounding the central helm station. The remainder of her elongated deck stretches to the bow, offering space for sunbathing when at anchor, or providing a thrilling experience when Puritan is under sail.

The schooner has been a popular charter yacht since her launch, even with a 25-year hiatus from 1992-2017. During this time, the yacht underwent a full restoration before making her return to the charter market.

"Puritan represents an exceptional opportunity for discerning enthusiasts. She is not just a yacht but a living heritage maintained with passion and rigour," shared her broker. "A yacht that crosses the centuries with elegance and continues to make people dream."

The Lloyd's classed yacht for sale is powered by one GM 275hp engine, providing a cruising speed of seven knots. Key specifications include her 6.9-metre beam and draught of 4.5 metres.

Currently located in Portoheli, Greece, Puritan is asking €5,900,000.
