24 July 2012

Sir Donald’s Gosling, the owner of Leander has seen several royal visitors on board his 75m motor yacht, but today looking splendid after a spruce up at the Pendennis Shipyard, she was put at the service of Her Majesty The Queen as part of her Diamond Jubilee Tour. Captain Jules Cope comments from on board the yacht:

‘Motor yacht Leander hosted Her Majesty last night at a quiet anchorage in Cowes before transporting the Royal Party though the Parade of Sail at 0945 this morning where she was given a rapturous welcome and a 21 gun salute from The Royal Yacht Squadron in Cowes. It was a great honour to have been of service to Her Majesty on this her last day of her 2012 Regional Diamond Jubilee Tour of the United Kingdom.’

When talking to Sir Donald in an earlier interview he was thrilled to be of service to the royal family. HM The Queen early this year conferred the title of Vice Admiral of the United Kingdom to Hononary Rear Admiral Sir Donald Gosling KCVO RNR.
