The 27.8-metre sailing yacht Sonny III has been sold with Robert Dubsky of Yacht Masters representing the buyer and Andrew LeBuhn at Camper & Nicholsons representing the seller.
Built by US builder Brooklin Boat Yard, Sonny III was launched in 2018 as a custom cold-moulded sloop, but was later acquired by a new owner who wished to re-engineer the yacht to facilitate an "advanced race mode". A 2021 refit costing upwards of $2,500,000 saw Sonny III return to Brooklin Boat Yard for a new custom carbon rig, new cruising and racing sails from North Sails and a full repaint, among other upgrades.
Sonny III features a flush deck with broad expanses of teak and two oval-shaped cockpits, each offering welcome shade beneath a removable Bimini. Guests on this sloop can enjoy meals al fresco in the second guest cockpit, thanks to a varnished drop-leaf teak table that can seat up to eight guests.
A comfortable interior features a large custom sofa and teak table with a compass rose inlay, as well as a navigation station and a galley to starboard. Sonny III can accommodate up to eight guests in four cabins, comprising a master suite aft and three guest cabins forward.
When not under sail, power for this 61GT yacht comes from a single 310hp Cummins diesel engine for a cruising speed of eight knots and a maximum speed of 11 knots.
Sonny III was asking $4,750,000.
