The 37-metre sailing yacht A Sulana has been sold after just three months on the market, with William Bishop at Superyacht Partners representing both buyer and seller.
A Sulana was designed as a fast sailing sloop by Bill Dixon and John Munford, both renowned British designers, and delivered in 2006 by Holland Jachtbouw. She was offered for sale following refit and maintenance work completed in 2022.
This sloop is equipped with a large carbon rig, providing an excellent sail area/displacement ratio and she carries a non-overlap blade headsail for power and ease of handling, while a Genoa reacher makes the most of light airs.
Her uncluttered deck space provides ample sunpads with shade provided by two large awnings built into the boom as and when required. Her fully automatic retractable bimini and dodger protect the recessed centre cockpit seating and dining area from either sun or spray.
Clean, flush decks have been achieved by using recessed Genoa tracks and semi-recessed headsail furlers, further complemented by the through-hull anchoring system and concealed hinges for hatches.
The interior is laid out with the owner's and two guest cabins forward with ample crew quarters set aft of the saloon. This ensures maximum privacy for the guests whilst underway on overnight passages or stern-to in port. The broker decribed the interior as "sophisticated yet uncomplicated".
The high performance is the result of significant amounts of design time and tank testing to prove the concept and a carefully specified rig and sail inventory. The broker added: "She is a stunning, powerful performance sloop. Her optimized hull and keel design with ballast bulb gives maximum lift, stability and efficiency and her exceptional sail area to displacement ratio gives outstanding performance even in the slightest of breezes."
The 91GT sloop has a top speed under power of 12 knots, under her 500hp Lugger diesel. Range is 2,700 nautical miles at 10 knots.
A Sulana was asking €6,750,000.
