The 35 metre classic sailing yacht Eros has changed central agencies and is now listed for sale by James Nason at Fraser Yachts in San Diego, California.
Eros was built in teak over steel frames by the UK’s Brook's Motor Craft yard to a design by William McMeek and was delivered in 1938, just in time to be requisitioned by the Royal Navy when WWII broke out. Following the war, she became a firm favourite among the Mediterranean yachting fraternity until in 1992 a knowledgeable owner began a long and detailed complete rebuild.
The hull and deck planks were removed to allow access to the steel structure, which was repaired and replaced as necessary. All the bronze bolts fastening the planks to the steel were renewed – a total of 20,000 bolts. Piping, wiring, pumps, winches, spars, electronics and all systems on the yacht were either completely overhauled or replaced.
Today, Eros comfortably accommodates eight guests in four staterooms. To aft, the port and starboard cabins share a bathroom while the two forward double cabins both have en suite bathrooms.
Eros is asking $3.25 million.
