73m Admiral explorer yacht Planet Nine reduces price significantly

31 May 2024 • Written by Nick Jeffery

A significant price drop has been announced on the 73.2-metre Admiral explorer yacht Planet Nine, listed with Stuart Larsen of Fraser. This comes right after a six-month €5,000,000 refit and completion of her first five-year survey.

The explorer motor yacht, delivered by Admiral in 2018, boasts an ice-classed steel hull and a military-looking aluminium superstructure. British designer Tim Heywood created her exterior styling, while the light, airy and contemporary interior design is courtesy of Mlinaric, Henry and Zervudachi, who have studios in London, New York and Paris.

Planet Nine is now asking €79,500,000 and lying in the South of France.

The interior was custom-built by German luxury outfitter Fitz. Guest accommodations sleep up to sixteen in eight staterooms, including the owner’s suite with massive windows and doors out to balconies, another master suite on the main deck and a VIP with a private outside area on the bridge deck. A guest elevator serves all decks from lower deck to sun deck. A crew elevator serves three decks and crew quarters allow for a total of 22 staff members in 13 cabins.

Key features include a commercial-standard helipad (LY2 annex 6) for an 8-tonne helicopter on the aft deck, with a hangar facility and the possibility of refuelling. The side-loading garage provides storage space for three Rupert tenders measuring from 6 to 10.5 metres. Exterior relaxation options are plentiful, with two large beach clubs, one on the starboard side and one at the transom, both designed for use in both warm and cool climates, and a sundeck spa pool – with water retention tank – offering spectacular views out to sea.

Power to the 2,100GT yacht for sale comes from a pair of 2,575hp Caterpillar 3516 engines for a top speed in excess of 16 knots. When trimmed back to 14 knots, she can cruise for 6,000 nautical miles without needing to refuel her 345,500 litre tanks.

Quantum zero speed stabilisers ensure a smooth cruising experience, while the dynamic positioning system makes it easier to visit remote and environmentally sensitive areas. The Lloyd's Register Ice Class 1D vessel is MCA and LY3 compliant.

Stuart Larsen pointed out she has also proven herself to be a popular charter yacht and said: "Since her launch in 2018 Planet Nine has proven to be an extremely tough yet versatile yacht with remarkable performance and seakeeping characteristics. She has not stopped cruising in her first five years and among some of her notable highlights was a trip to Antarctica with a return up the West Coast of South America to the Mediterranean, all in one southern summer season."

Planet Nine is now asking €79,500,000 and lying in the South of France.
