"Time is money," as the age-old saying goes – and what better way to board your yacht quickly than by helicopter? BOAT takes a closer look at five superyachts currently listed for sale that are equipped with helicopter decks...
Planet Nine
Length: 73.2m
Builder: Admiral - The Italian Sea Group
Year: 2018
Potentially one of the coolest helicopter-capable superyachts currently listed for sale is the 73.2-metre explorer yacht Planet Nine. In addition to an ice-class hull and "heavy" build specification, the go-anywhere yacht designed by Tim Heywood harbours several helicopter-friendly features. The upper deck aft features a large commercially approved helideck for helicopters up to 3.5 tonnes in landing weight, which opens to reveal an enclosed below-deck hangar. This garage can accommodate an Agusta Grand A109 or MD600 helicopter via a hydraulic lift, allowing the yacht to cruise with two helis on board (one in the hangar and one on deck). Planet Nine also has a helicopter refueling facility with storage for 8,000 liters of fuel.
Planet Nine is asking €79,500,000 with Fraser.

Length: 85.3m
Builder: SilverYachts
Year: 2019
Designed by Espen Øino, Bold is packed with a range of standout features. Hosting a huge array of amenities – including an owner's deck winter garden and a 2,700-litre Jacuzzi – the Australian-built motor yacht is characterised by her elongated aft deck that stretches over 30 metres. This mammoth deck is home to a certified helicopter pad with a D value of 13, meaning that it is capable of carrying a 3.2-tonne, twin-engine, eight-seat AgustaWestland AW109S Grand helicopter. There is also a heli garage on board, which doubles as a disco space or cinema when not in use, and the aft bulwark sections can unfold to provide further clearance for the helicopter landing. The aft section of the bridge deck is also capable of parking a second helicopter.
Bold is listed for sale privately with SilverYachts, price on application.

Length: 71.6m
Builder: OY Laivateollisuus
Year: 1983
Nansen Explorer is Class 1A, the highest class below that of an icebreaker. Fittingly named after Norway’s renowned explorer, she is a seasoned adventurer and is packed with a range of amenities to ensure safe and comfortable cruising "without restrictions" – one of which is her considerable aft deck-come-helipad that is commercially certified and capable of handling a larger craft weighing up to 4.8 tonnes. Perfect for heli-skiing or diving, she is also fitted with an "adventure hangar".
Nansen Explorer is asking €9,900,000 with Large Yacht Corp.
Luna
Length: 90m
Builder: Oceanco
Year: 2018
Proof that they're not exclusive to explorer yachts, Oceanco's shark-like yacht Luna has a helideck at the highest point on board, located aft. It is certified for private use, and when empty, it can transform into a lounge sunbathing space or even into an outdoor cinema. Views from the helideck stretch over the stern, looking down upon the raised six-metre pool on the upper deck that is complete with a cascading waterfall and a resistance jet for swimming. Luna's long foredeck – which hides crew tenders and a telescopic mast – is also large enough for a second helicopter to land and take off.
Luna is asking €218,000,000 with Large Yacht Corp.
Geco
Length: 55.2m
Builder: Admiral - The Italian Sea Group
Year: 2020
Although technically not a helideck, Geco's helipad is a one-of-a-kind worth mentioning. Incorporated into the foredeck, the circular touch-and-go helipad hangs over both sides of her hull and is finished in chevron-arranged teak sporting an "H". The helipad cleverly sits on top of a tender garage and makes use of often unused space at the foredeck with a large sunpad fitted nearby. When not in use, the round platform makes for the perfect place to enjoy a cocktail under the setting sun or stargaze at night, benefitting from almost 360 degrees of undisturbed views.
Geco is asking €29,500,000 with IYC.
