Charter yacht of the Week: Halo, the 57m Feadship that was designed on the back of a spellbinding charter

30 July 2024 • Written by Georgia Boscawen

Each week, we place a spotlight on one of the world’s finest yachts for charter. This week, BOAT takes a closer look at charter yacht Halo, the 57.4-metre Feadship that was inspired by a fine charter experience and designed to cruise the world without any on board compromise…

Defined by two silver arcs that crown her distinctive silhouette, Halo is certainly a feat of design with well-balanced and futuristic profile. She was commissioned by an owner who fell in love with a fellow Feadship (44.6-metre Megan, ex Helix), during a private yacht charter and wanted to build their own Feadship that was heavily inspired by the yacht. This can be seen in several design cues such as Halo’s 11 rectangular windows on each side of the hull.

But while the owner was inspired by Megan, they decided upon a different design route for Halo with a new design team (Harrison Eidsgaard exterior and Bernardi Peschard interiors) which together could take a more radical approach. This was also the first superyacht project for Bernardi Peschard Interiors, a studio based in Mexico City.

Halo was delivered in 2015 by Feadship, her distinctive arches setting her apart from anything else we’ve seen on the market since. Huge exterior spaces, elegant interiors and a long list of toys set her apart and nine years later she still does, thriving on the charter market thanks to a host of cool elements.

Since 2015 Halo has changed hands once in 2021, which triggered a multi-million euro refit, restoring her to her full charter potential.

Key Features

LOA: 57.4m
Builder: Feadship
Year: 2015 (2021)
Guests: 12
Crew: 14

Stepping on board and up to the aft deck, guests will be greeted on board with a cooling, scented towel and a glass of champagne while you peer through the open main saloon doors. Inside, the main saloon unfolds into a colour scheme, which is a careful mix of coffee and cream, which come together to create a neutral yet elegant space. The outside world pops against the black lacquered windows as light streams into the main saloon. Intrinsically welcoming the interior spaces have been arranged to accommodate plenty of room for lounging around including two large sofas on each side and white armchairs placed before the main interior dining table

The same can be said for Halo’s upper deck lounge which doubles as a cinema for cosy nights tucked up after dinner, which is typically served out on the upper deck aft. The colour scheme here is of the same elegant style, while pops of nautical blue soft furnishings break up its neutral tones. Cocktails can be served here (or anywhere) for cosy movie nights or out on deck for evenings under the stars.

Accommodation on board is for 12 guests across six large cabins each with the same elegant colour scheme. On the main deck, four convertible cabins can be found as well as a large master suite, which peers out of the large rectangular windows. The VIP suite lies on the bridge deck, which offers spectacular elevated views. Ultimately, the cabins are flexible, catering for large families, friends or groups with staff, all of whom will be accommodated in the utmost comfort.

It is, however, Halo’s plentiful outdoor living spaces, namely an enormous sundeck, which makes her charter credentials even more impressive. During her launch, it was noted that Halo extends five metres further forward than would be found on comparable-sized superyachts making a huge area for outside activities. Should a yoga lesson be on your list, sessions can take place on the main deck forward at sunrise.

Life on board Halo

While her interiors are beautiful and perfect for cooler days, Halo is a yacht to spend time outside and bask in the glory of the summer season. The sundeck offers 200 square metres of space, featuring a large Jacuzzi surrounded by sun pads and a sit-up bar, All of the space can be covered with an electronically powered carbon fibre sun awning.

If wellness is an important part of the perfect superyacht charter, Halo’s top wellness credentials pack a punch, with a fully stocked gym with cardio machines and free weights, a swimming pool and a personal trainer among the 14-strong crew. The chef can also whip up vitamin-dense green smoothies or protein-heavy meals for wellness-centric charter guests.

Those who wish to get out in the water will have their run of Halo’s brimming toy box, which is full of high-octane fun and inflatables. Nipping to shore will or exploring quiet coastlines can be done in either of the yacht’s tenders or perhaps a kayak, should guests wish to get up close and personal with a craggy cove or secluded bay.
