Each week, we place a spotlight on one of the world’s finest yachts for charter. This week, BOAT delves into the details of the 70-metre Alfa, which despite being four years old, stands on the charter market like new, primed to carry guests in unbeatable comfort.
Benetti was dedicated to equilibrium when designing this project. We know that not from any brief, but from Alfa’s exteriors, which comprise three strong horizontal lines, symmetrical rectangular windows, and a knife-like plumb bow. Within the luxury yacht charter market, this is how to do well; the 70-metre boasts a commanding design with no elements to quibble over. It is all about balance and proportion.
Having only arrived on the charter market this summer, Alfa’s condition is like new. The 70-metre was barely used in the last four years of life, meaning that the condition on board is like-new, filled with the latest wellness equipment, immaculate lounge areas and a host of cool tech.
Her bright interiors are by Luxury Projects, led by CEO Laura Pomponi who worked to create a calm and contemporary space with an earthy colour palette that is designed to feel like home.
Key Features
LOA: 70m
Builder: Benetti
Year: 2020
Guests: 12
Crew: 18
As you enter Alfa’s main saloon, Pomponi’s vision for a contemporary and calming feel is clear. The wide doors open up to white sofas, stone-grey armchairs and wooden ceilings. There are no glaring spotlights to be seen – a deliberate choice – or any features that look out of place among the natural textures and heavy use of timber. Thanks to the yacht’s panoramic windows, light floods the interiors and works well to illuminate the natural tones of the yacht.
The formal dining room differs somewhat from your traditional arrangement and has a starboard-side balcony that opens onto the sea giving the illusion of dining at a waterfront terrace.
Alfa has an entire deck dedicated to the owner (or principal guest), connected to all decks via an elevator. “The owner’s deck is hugely impressive," says Stephanie Archer, central agent of Alfa at Ocean Independence. “I love the gym, the office, the sky lounge TV room and especially the dining room.”
A defining feature on board is the beach club, which is a little different from most and designed to be especially private while connecting guests with the water. Rather than opening at the stern, it has balconies unfolding on either side, allowing guests to enjoy a cross-breeze off the water. There is a sofa and a huge television so it can be used as a water-level cinema. Access is via guest corridors leading from the stern and an internal stairwell from the main deck.
The 70-metre also has a variable geometry swimming pool on the main deck and a huge amount of exterior space. Elsewhere, Alfa features a vertical bow, a "touch and go" helipad and a Jacuzzi on the sky deck. The design is so impressive in fact that Alfa won a coveted Neptune at the 2021 World Superyacht Awards in the Displacement Motor Yacht Between 1,000GT and 1,599GT category.
Life on board Alfa
There isn’t much that Alfa wouldn’t be able to cater for, from relaxing family trips, celebrations or simply relaxing, her amenities cater for all. The wellness facilities on board are particularly impressive and there’s an on-board therapist available to conduct a range of treatments and massages.
Should guests wish to explore away from the yacht, Alfa has two Gocycle G4 E-bikes and a long list of water toys including jet skis, flite boards and paddle boards, all purchased in the spring of 2024. The crew’s beach set-up is among the best with gazebos, a dining table, tiki torches and umbrellas.
Where will Alfa be cruising this summer?
Alfa is available for charter with Ocean Independence for a weekly rate from €700,000. She will be cruising the Mediterranean this summer calling into the region's most popular and secluded parts.
