A 140-metre-plus Lürssen superyacht has collided with a drydock gate at the shipyard's Bremen site (7 December). One employee was injured in the process.
The unnamed yacht damaged the doors from the inside in what appears to be a failed attempt to open the gate and leave the shed. Several local reports claim that a bridge was also damaged and sunk onsite.
Lürssen released the following statement: "Immediately after the incident, the shipyard initiated all necessary evacuation measures and informed the relevant authorities. The scene of accident was secured together with the police and the Bremen fire brigade. One employee was slightly injured during the incident and was immediately treated by the emergency services."
The shipyard are currently unable to provide any information on the cause of the accident or the material damage. BOAT International has reached out to the authorities for further comment.
