The 24.9-metre Viking sportfish Grander Ambition has been sold in an online auction with Boathouse Auctions. Bidding opened at $3,100,000 and the final sale well exceeded the reserve price of $3,500,000, according to Jack Mahoney of Boathouse Auctions
Seven registered bidders placed a total of 32 bids and the listing broker was Traver Smith, owner of Worldwide Yacht Sales.
Lying in Jupiter, Florida, the 2016 build is part of Viking's 82 Enclosed Bridge series and was fitted with new MTU engines in 2019, which have 60 hours on the clock and are under warranty until November 2025.
Accommodation is for a total of six guests, with a full-beam owner's suite with a king-sized berth, plus a further two guest cabins complete with en suites, walk-around beds, his and her private ensuite heads, and walk-in closets. Two guest staterooms are appointed with their own private head and shower, and there are two separate crew quarters.
The rest of the yacht's configuration makes full use of a 6.8-metre beam, with a generous saloon that's flooded with light and has a lounge area plus dinette finished in cherry and holly wood. Entertainment amenities include a 55-inch television screen, while galley extras include Subzero appliances.
The vessel was surveyed by Pliske World Yacht Surveyors, and was valued at around $7 million. Mahoney said: "Rather than lowering the asking price, which can be a slippery slope, some sellers would rather set a compelling reserve price and have competition at auction determine the market value of the vessel.”
