Superyacht Prima launched by Palumbo

19 June 2011 • Written by Raphael Montigneaux

We reported on Friday that the new Columbus 177 called Prima was due to launch today, and she duly hit the water this morning at the Palumbo yard in Naples.

Built for the owner of Columbus Yacht, Prima is Palumbo's first yacht. With another 55m under construction and the acquisition of two yards in Malta last year, this shipping company's presence in the superyacht market is on the rise.

Prima is 53.90m motor yacht built in steel and aluminium. ABS and RINA Green Star Plus classed, she was designed by Sergio Cutolo from Hydro Tec to respect rigorous environmental rules: low fuel consumption, less noise, less pollution, etc... The interior, designed by Tommaso Spadolini, accommodates 12 guests in a full beam master suite on the main deck, a VIP stateroom on the bridge deck, and four further double cabins on the lower deck.

In the engine room, twin 1,730kW MTU give a top speed of 18 knots, a cruising speed of 16 knots and a range of 5,000 nautical miles at 12 knots.

Scheduled to be delivered in July, Prima is also for sale with Fraser Yachts.
