Construction has commenced on the second hull in Southern Wind's 35.5-metre "smart sailboat" series, the SW108.
Delivery is expected for early 2025, at which point she will join sistership Gelliceaux on the water.
As with the first hull, the shipyard has collaborated with Farr Yacht Design and Nauta Design on the naval architecture and interiors respectively. The yacht was sold in autumn 2023 to a "passionate European owner, looking for a high-performance yacht [that can both] race in regattas and cruise comfortably with family and friends."
To this end, she is built with a Corecell core for a light displacement (excluding extra) of 73.9kg, twin rudders and a lifting keel. Her standard propulsion system differentiates her from diesel-electric hybrid Gelliceaux. Onboard features include a cockpit lounge, folding transom and storage for a five-metre tender.
The announcement follows Gelliceaux's delivery in October, who is now cruising in the Caribbean following her 7,500 maiden voyage from Cape Town.
