Seventh and "most extreme" Otam 80HT now under construction

Genoa-based yard Otam has announced the hull and deck are complete on the seventh unit in its 80HT series. Interior outfitting has begun and delivery is scheduled for March 2025.

The 25.9-metre yacht was sold in March 2023 and billed as the "most extreme and advanced 80HT yet", commissioned by an owner-driver. It will be capable of reaching a top speed of 48 knots thanks to two 2,600hp engines and two Arneson drives seen on other models, while "almost everything else has been re-engineered according to the owner-operator’s own technical specs," according to the shipyard.

Like its sisterships, including the sixth hull named Attitude, Umberto Tagliavini and Aldo Scorzoni Marine Design & Services are responsible for the hull lines, but this particular model will be laminated in full Kevlar, with carbon fibre used for the superstructure for a lightweight construction.

To achieve a view with minimal obstruction, the Italian shipyard has modified the engineering of the hardtop coupling and removed the central windshield pillar. The yacht also features a customised dashboard and instrumentation package with multiple backup systems specified by the expert owner.

Meanwhile, the exterior detailing and interior are the work of Nuvolari Lenard. The interior layout is yet to be finalised but will be "fully tailored" to the owner's needs, aligning with "Otam’s made-to-measure philosophy".

Otam sales & communication manager Matteo Belardinelli said: "Bespoke design and smart engineering is in our DNA and we set up the Otam Co-Design Lab so clients can build their boats the way they dream them. This owner, in particular, came to us because he wanted to build something truly different.

He continued: "He knew that with Otam, he would find the flexibility and necessary expertise from a brand that chooses to work outside the classic comfort zone. I’m confident we can not only meet but also exceed his expectations by working diligently together."

While details of the custom requirements will be revealed later down the line, some elements like electrically opening full-length side windows offer a departure from previous models with increased natural light and ventilation. One standout feature is a sliding sky roof integrated into the hardtop, letting the ocean breeze in while cruising from a sheltered helm. For exterior lounging, guests can enjoy cushioned seating both up at the foredeck and aft.

The bespoke garage will also be capable of housing two Jet Skis.

Speaking on the customisations, Belardinelli, said: "The client is not just an expert owner, he’s also an experienced captain and came to us with a detailed list of technical and aesthetic requests of his own."

The new 80HT will join the in-build 90 GTS flagship model which is scheduled for launch this summer.
