French yard Garcia Yachts, known for building superyachts such as 26 metre Meliti and 24 metre Annka I, has begun development on the first hull in its flagship Exploration 60 range.

The smaller 19.5 metre blue water cruising models builds on the success of the Exploration 45 and was designed by Garcia Yachts in collaboration with French design company Berret Racoupeau.

The Exploration 60 will be the flagship of the yard's Exploration range

The first Exploration 60 has been ordered by a Dutch family eager to visit the most remote places in the world.

Key features include an aluminium hull and deck structure, as well as aluminium forward and aft bulkheads.

The coach roof is fitted with large glass panels, allowing guests a panoramic view of the outside world. The yacht also features a totally flush deck, refined exterior lines and an interior helm station. The versatile transom area doubles up as a diving platform, boarding area or bathing beach.

The first hull in the range has now entered development

The Exploration 60, which can be operated with or without crew, offers three layouts in two different interior styles. The “standard” layout features two cabins, while the “Owners version” places the spacious owner’s cabin aft and second cabin forward. The “Family version”, features three equally sized cabins.

Speaking about the flagship model, Garcia managing director Marc d’Arbigny said: “The Exploration 60 is designed and optimised to sail anywhere in comfort and exceptional safety.”
