Italian shipyard Cantiere delle Marche (CDM) has signed the contract for its second Flexplorer 165. The buyer hails from the United States and is represented by Christian Bakewell of Burgess.
Measuring 50.3 metres, the Flexplorer 165 is the shipyard's largest explorer series to date. Exterior design and naval architecture is owed to Hydro Tec.
This unit will be heavily customised, including extensive wellness amenities and a pickleball court on the upper deck. The shipyard has extended the upper deck overhang to accommodate this request and added two dedicated viewing areas on the upper deck and sundeck. A gym and massage area on the upper deck, a "thermal therapy" space on the sundeck and an ice tub pool operating between eight and 12 degrees completes the list of wellness facilities on board.
Accommodation is across five guest cabins and five crew cabins, not including the captain's quarters. British studio Design Unlimited will be responsible for the interiors, known for the 58.3-metre Pink Shadow and the 46.7-metre King Benji, among other builds.
Meanwhile, the main deck will house a seven-metre tender and Jet Ski, both deployed with an overhead crane. This space will be converted into an outdoor lounge when the toys are in the water, complete with a bar, a heated pool, free-standing furniture and collapsible bulwarks. A second five-metre tender is stored on the upper deck, while the sundeck is designed to host two additional Jet Skis if desired.
Other highlights include touch-and-go capabilities for an EC130 helicopter and an elevator that will serve the lower, main and upper decks. Two dedicated storage areas will also be installed in the main deck and the lower deck to support the owner's "active lifestyle".
"It’s been a privilege to work with the owner on this project," said CDM sales manager Carlo Aquilanti. "From our first conversation, it was clear that the Flexplorer 165 was the perfect match for him. We have successfully integrated all his favorite sports activities and his lifestyle into the yacht without any compromises."
Powered by twin Caterpillar engines, the Flexplorer 165 is expected to achieve a maximum speed of 15 knots and a range of 4,800 nautical miles at 10 knots.
It's been a busy year for Cantiere delle Marche, with 14 yachts on order or under construction according to BOATPro. News highlights include the sale of a 33.5-metre explorer to Australian businessman Marcus Blackmore and the launch of the first two Flexplorer 146 models, Maverick and Mat, just in time for the summer season.
