Italian yard Cantieri di Pisa has introduced the first model in its new Saturno range. Measuring 56 metres, the Saturno 56 will sit among four other yachts varying in length from 38 metres to the 90-metre flagship, known as the Super Saturno 90.
Exterior design has been completed in house and is characterised by a traditional stern, generous "ribbon windows" and striped detailing on the hull.
"This range has a classic layout that reprises Cantieri di Pisa’s traditional stylistic hallmarks but also satisfies demand from contemporary owners of all ages for spaces that alternate moments of relaxation and sport," explained the shipyard's chief designer, Antonio Luxardo.
Interior design is by Milan-based studio m2atelier, who have opted for a symmetrical layout and minimalist finishes – including coffered ceilings, three-dimensional wood features and mini spotlights – for a design inspired "by the beauty of Japanese aesthetics". Accommodation is across six cabins.
Other design highlights include a glass-bottomed swimming pool, a gym on the sundeck and a beach club connected to the main and upper decks by a transverse staircase.
The Saturno 56 will be powered by twin 1,600hp Caterpillar engines, with the shipyard also exploring the possibility of hybrid propulsion. An EHPH (Eco High Power Hull) displacement hull will enable long-range cruising and reduced consumption.
This follows the announcement that the shipyard's newly formed custom division had sold a 37.5-metre explorer yacht to a French buyer.
