German yard ALVA Yachts has introduced a new addition to its range of environmentally responsible electric catamarans. The Ocean Eco 78 is a 23.7-metre multihull yacht that features electric propulsion and transatlantic range.
Based on the Ocean Eco 60, the Ocean Eco 78 "offers everything the 60 does but on a larger scale," says Milan Henn, Head of Design at ALVA Yachts.
A beam of 12 metres gives owners and guests plenty of space, while twin bathing platforms offer easy access to the water.
The lower deck is the main spot for socialising and features U-shaped seating for eight guests and twin drop-down terraces to catch the sun on both sides of the yacht. Additional seating and sunbathing spaces can be found on the foredeck, featuring oversized sunbeds and refrigeration options, and at the helm.
Inside, there's a spacious saloon, a generous galley with a bar, and a large master suite featuring an ensuite and walk-in wardrobe. Guest accommodation includes a double guest cabin on the starboard side and a double and twin room to port. All have ensuites.
The interior features a "new-found design direction and material selection" comprising textural layers and a mix of furnishings and fabrics that give a timeless feel with a modern twist. The styling is semi-customisable and owners can choose between five moods: Mountain, Forest, Desert, Dune and Sea.
The yacht's large roof is integrated with solar panels that collect energy to power the electric engines, giving her transatlantic range and "virtually unlimited autonomy". The launch is the next step in ALVA Yachts' mission to promote responsible yachting.
“The new Ocean Eco 78 was created as the perfect addition to our existing range, and sits between the Ocean Eco 60 and 90 models providing owners with a generous increase in size from the 60 but removing the need for crew on the 90," said Henn.
