3 June 2024 • Written by Nick Jeffery

With a reserve price of only €20,000, the classic sailing yacht Thendara was sold at auction at Les Voiles d'Antibes (1 June) with auction house Metayer Mermoz. Her hammer price was €460,000.

Built of teak on steel frames in 1936, by Stephen & Sons in Scotland, Thendara was designed by Alfred Mylne with an interior by Edwin Meayers. Alan Boswell of Boswell Designs worked on her reconstruction in 1993.

Thendara was auctioned in Antibes, France, on Saturday 1 June.

Thendara has three guest cabins allowing for an owner's party of six and crew quarters for seven. The doghouse provides protection for guests who also enjoy a spacious cockpit in the heart of the action.

Thendara has always been a racy boat and started with a win at the Torbay Coronation Regatta in 1937. In 1997 she competed in the Atlantic Challenge and, later, in the Antigua Classic Week 2000 she won the BOAT International Concours d'Elegance.

Lying in Antibes, France, Thendara was sold at auction for a hammer price of €460,000.
