The 37.5-metre gaff-rigged sailing yacht Alexa of London has been sold with Alastair Shove of Carrswood Yachts and Mark Van Geldern of TWW Yachts who introduced the buyer.

Built in steel in Poland at Gdansk Yb in 1992, the gaff cutter has been meticulously maintained by her long-standing crew and cherished by her present owners who have cruised extensively.

Lying in Palma, Mallorca, Alexa of London was last asking €2,959,000 with VAT paid.

Her current owner had an interior designer create a "New England, clean-cut, simple style throughout", the broker said, which includes white and navy furnishings with white panelled walls. She sleeps nine guests in four cabins, each equipped with opening hull ports, with quarters for a crew of five.

Alexa of London has plenty of deck space for sunpads and traditional teak deck chairs that can be used even while cruising under sail. A 10-seater dining table can be set up on the foredeck under a large awning, while a secondary table is positioned in the cockpit aft, ideal for enjoying breakfast al fresco.

A side boarding staircase/platform can be lowered for swimming and water activities or for guests boarding from her Williams tender.

The 116GT sailing yacht for sail has a top speed of 11 knots under power and similar under her powerful gaff rig (comprised of a main sail, flying jib, inner jib and staysail, courtesy of North Sails and serviced annually.) Meanwhile, her keel lifts so draught can be reduced from seven metres under sail to 3.5 metres when anchoring in shallow waters or entering a port.

The vessel is commercially compliant for charters, as long as within 150 nautical miles of a safe haven, according to the Malta Charter Code, and has proved to be a popular charter yacht with many repeat clients.

Lying in Palma, Spain, Alexa of London was asking €2,959,000 with VAT paid.
