Last month we reported the arrival of the world’s largest sailing sloop, M5 (ex-Mirabella V) in the UK for a major refit programme at the Pendennis Plus shipyard. Now Ron Holland Design has revealed what the yacht will look like after her refit.
As the original designers of Mirabella V built in the UK in 2004, Ron Holland Design is very familiar with the yacht and will be enhancing its appearance whilst remaining faithful to the original design. The full extent of the refit will involve upgrading the exterior extending the transom and sky deck, redeveloping the sky deck layout and changing the main deck seating arrangements. A hull side platform is being added to enhance the use of the yacht.
The yacht will also be getting new main engines, generators, switchboards and sewage treatment plant along with an air-conditioning system and electrics and entertainment systems upgrades. The mast, which is just under 90m, will be removed for an overhaul and new rigging. The sail handling systems are also receiving attention with speeding up equipment and new hardware.
Redman Whiteley Dixon will be completely restyling the main and lower deck interiors.
M5's refit will be completed in 2013, when her new owners plan to cruise her extensively.
