27 January 2021 • Written by Malcolm MacLean

The 24.38 metre Merritt sportfish yacht Beast, listed for sale by Dave Meyer at HMY Yacht Sales, has been sold in an in-house deal.

Built in GRP by US yard Merritt Boatworks, she was delivered in 2001 and has been refitted and upgraded several times since. Accommodation is for eight guests in four cabins consisting of a master suite, double and two twins, all with entertainment centres, television screens and en suite bathroom facilities.

Beast was asking $2,895,000

The saloon is comfortable and cosy, with a U-shaped settee, coffee table and in the port aft corner is a large television screen and media cabinet with an ice maker underneath, while forward is the galley with all new appliances and a dinette seating six guests for relaxed casual meals. The interior layout is totally functional and blends large spaces with impeccable woodwork joinery.

Her flybridge is open and incredibly spacious, with excellent visibility from the helm of the bow and aft corners. She has a helm chair and two companion helm seats on either side. Forward of the console, she has an L-shaped bench seat with rod storage underneath and a drink box to port at the forward end of the bench.

Beast is a true fishing machine, sporting a Jack Hopewell tuna tower and a wide range of fishing gear.

In the cockpit is a Merritt fighting chair, a bait freezer, live bait wells, insulated drinks freezer box, rod storage and Rupp hydraulic outriggers. Twin 2,000hp MTU diesel engines give her a cruising speed of 27 knots.

Beast was asking $2,895,000.
