Built in aluminium by Dutch yard Feadship to a design by Frits De Voogt, Patriot was delivered in 1984 as one of the very few sportfisher yachts to be built by the yard. Accommodation is for six guests in three cabins comprising a master suite forward and two twin cabins, all with entertainment centres, television screens and en suite bathroom facilities.

In 2005 the sportfish was put through a 15-month refit at the Derecktor Shipyard in Florida. Patriot was stripped back to a bare metal hull and refurbished from the bottom up with the aim of creating an ergonomic, custom-designed sport yacht.

Patriot is more than a sports yacht, however, equipped with zero speed gyro stabilisers and boasting a refined cherry wood interior. When she splashed back into the water in 2007 Patriot had had well over $10 million invested in her upkeep.

In the main saloon, to port is a comfortable seating area and to starboard is a comfortable settee. A custom overhead lowering 48-inch flatscreen HD television retracts down out of the overhead for easy viewing. During the refit, special attention was paid to the sound-proofing of the interior.

Twin 1,800hp MTU diesel engines allow a cruising speed of 20 knots topping out at 26 knots.

Patriot was asking $4,995,000.
