Fine Swiss watchmaker and creator of the first modern diver’s watch, Blancpain, has unveiled the latest addition to its popular Fifty Fathoms timepiece collection.
Seen for the first time at Basel World 2015, the new Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe model has now become available at the brand’s Bond Street store in London for the first time.
A sophisticated and stylish diving watch, the new model is a must for all serious marine timepiece collectors. Powered by Blancpain’s exclusive automatic movement 1315 and a self-winding calibre, the new model promises precision and performance in a sleek and sporty package.
The new Fifty Fathoms watch is available with a red gold or brushed black ceramic case with a black dial, or in brushed steel with a grey dial. All come with the option of a NATO fabric or sail canvas strap specially chosen for optimal aquatic use. However, in a first for this range, the brushed steel is also available with a metal bracelet.
The timepiece’s fashionable exterior is completed with rectangular hands reminiscent of the original 1950s Bathyscaphe models. Key markers, such as the hands, quarter hours and five minute intervals, have also been created in Blancpain’s Superluminova material to ensure easy readability under water.
On the technical side, the watch offers a huge 120-hour power reserve, a quick and easy date-change function and a unidirectional rotating bezel created using the brand’s patented scratch-resistant LiquidMetal alloy.
