Where is it?
Within South Malé atoll, Anantara Dhigu is a nifty 30 minute ride from Malé’s airport on board Nirvana, the property’s 17.6m Sunseeker.
Why the hype?
The over-water spa has windows in the floors of its treatment rooms, allowing you to gaze at marine life floating below during your massage, for complete nautical zen. Dhigu is also a go-to for foodies: guests staying at its 110 villas can enjoy 10 restaurants as well as access to its neighbouring property, Anantara Veli. Unlike Veli, Dhigu welcomes children so it’s perfect for bringing the whole brood on shore.
What to have?
Start with a shot of detoxifying Roselle tea infusion before trying the Anantara signature massage. The hour-long treatment starts with a milk foot bath and scrub, after which the therapist will use a combination of Eastern and Western massage techniques to soothe muscles and release built-up tension. Afterwards, take your time on the spa deck’s loungers with a glass of wine and a book. Before you leave, don’t forget to stock up on the spa’s own aloe vera, infused with vitamins C and E – it’s a miracle worker for soothing sunburnt skin.
Best by boat
Anchor outside the lagoon, and you’ll enjoy a wonderful view of your yacht from the terrace of Sea Fire Salt restaurant.
