Each week, BOAT selects one of the world’s finest superyachts for charter. This week's pick is the hugely elegant Sophia, which was built in 2017 by Feadship and refitted in 2022. At 96.6 metres, Sophia is the largest Feadship available for charter…
One of the largest Feadships ever built, Sophia (originally delivered as Faith) remains a standout in the world of luxury charters. Her striking flared bow and sculpted exterior still turn heads more than eight years later, maintaining a timeless appeal. Designed by renowned British studio RWD, Sophia boasts perfectly balanced proportions, a flowing sheerline, and distinctive curved forward windows that add to her elegant yet powerful presence on the water. She remains the largest Feadship available for charter, and promises a host of excitement this season in the Caribbean.
Inside, Sophia offers expansive, light-filled spaces thanks to her floor-to-ceiling windows. Her 14.5-metre beam allows for wide, open interiors decorated with lavish materials, including limestone and quartz fireplaces and textured stone finishes. While her wood panels are dark, the combination of cream and white allowed for a crisp and elegant feel to the interiors. Blue leather and suede accents complement the dual-tone panelling, creating a refined yet inviting atmosphere. The 2,999GT interior was designed by Parisian studio Chahan Design and features accommodation for a total of 12 guests and 32 crew members.
Sophia tips the scale at €1,700,000 per week, making her one of the most expensive superyachts available for charter. But the hefty price tag comes with many mesmerising amenities including a cinema, a wellness centre and a whole host of water toys.
Key features
LOA: 96.6m
Builder: Feadship
Year: 2017 (2022)
Guests: 12
Cruising: Caribbean and Mediterranean
As guests step on board, they’ll arrive on the vast expanse of the aft deck which has an extraordinary glass-bottomed swimming pool with an upper deck waterfall as its centrepiece. A large seating area surrounds the pool – a perfect spot to relax close to the water – while two coffee tables also sit in front of the pool. Constructed with a distinctive S-shape in the deep end (which descends 2.5 metres), the glass bottom of the pool forms the ceiling of the beach club below, allowing light to shimmer through the water.
The sea-level beach club basks in the dappled light passing through the pool and almost doubles in size when the transom and side terraces are open. Doors in the hull further forward allow the crew to discreetly launch the tenders and toys. There is also a bar here to provide waterside refreshments.
The main saloon lies through large sliding glass doors on the main deck and features a sit-up bar to starboard and a large cream L-shaped sofa to port. The feeling here is clean and crisp, but still inviting and elegant. The saloon is divided into two sections by a limestone and quartz double-sided fireplace. On the other side of the crackling fireplace lies a large oval dining table for decadent lunches inside. A large collection of wine bottles are elegantly displayed here next to the dining table.
Another spot to bask in the sunshine is the sundeck which has a huge lounge area filled with teak furniture, a sit-up bar and a large table for al fresco dinners. There are three chefs on board who can whip up whatever takes your fancy. There is also a wood-fired pizza oven and charcoal barbecue. Forward, there is an additional sunbathing area and spa pool offering uninterrupted panoramic views.
Sophia has an enormous foredeck that enables a selection of games to be played. The yacht for charter is well-known for hosting basketball games at sea. This space is complemented by her large gym on the bridge deck, kitted out with a range of equipment. There is also a cinema room for cosy movie nights or exciting sporting games. The foredeck doubles as a helicopter landing pad, with a dedicated hangar below that is large enough to accommodate a Bell 429 WG helicopter.
Life on board Sophia
Accommodation is for 12 guests across seven sumptuous cabins. There is a full-beam owner’s suite on its own deck, boasting 180-degree exterior views of the foredeck. In line with the yacht's theme, the space is designed in a crisp white and cream colour palate with large windows. There is also a private dining and sitting area for the principal charter guest to enjoy cosy nights by the firepit. Inside, the owner’s deck has a lounge with a fireplace and cinema. The other guests are accommodated on the main deck across two VIP suites and four spacious double cabins, all with separate en suites and walk-in wardrobes.
