The continued strength of the superyacht industry was on full display during this year’s Monaco Yacht Show, with 560 exhibitors and more than 100 yachts exceeding 24 metres appearing throughout Port Hercule.
But among the bustling crowds, industry leaders expressed concern over the prospect of a weakened economy in 2024 that could ultimately affect the leisure marine sector. “Uncertainty is a key factor,” Heesen Yachts CEO Arthur Brouwer said to a room full of reporters at the show. “Fears of a global recession may be receding, but there are new concerns about China's economy dipping into deflation, while geopolitical and domestic political issues will continue to unsettle the markets.”
