The YOTS Foundation, a foundation aimed at giving young people opportunities to discover the yachting sector, launches today.
Blue spaces are known to boost psychological and physical well-being, and numerous academic studies have concluded that access to the water at training organisations dramatically improves outcomes for young people.
The mission behind YOTS Foundation (Yachting Opportunities Training & Skills) is to give young people the chance to develop yachting-related skills, help them engage in training in anticipation of a career in the yachting sector and encourage the industry to create work placements and internships.
YOTS will seek to primarily engage young people whose access to the water is limited, either due to location or disadvantage. All funds donated to YOTS will be distributed to established organisations with proven track records of providing on-water training and education.
Editor-in-chief of BOAT International and YOTS trustee, Stewart Campbell said of the announcement, “We are hugely excited to be launching this foundation. Not only will YOTS create exciting new career pathways for young people, but it will be a great opportunity for the yachting community to bring a diverse new talent into its fold. We envisage the whole yachting ecosystem engaging in this endeavour, promoting it as part of their ESG programmes.”
Along with Stewart Campbell, the YOTS Foundation is supported by a group of trustees including Toby Allies Managing Director, Pendennis; Natasha Ambrose, Yacht Manager, Edmiston; Charlie Baker, Yacht Designer & Director, RWD; Aino-Leena Grapin, CEO, Winch Design; Georgina Menheneott, Partner for ESG, Burgess; William Maclachlan, Partner, HFW and Toby Moore, CEO, BOAT International.
Donations to the YOTS Foundation will be used to support all areas of their work. No matter how big or small, every contribution is valuable. For more information on how to donate please contact info@yots-foundation.com.
